Sustainable Weight Loss

SUSTAINABLE WEIGHT LOSS

~ Are you preoccupied with how much you weigh or how “out of shape” you are?

~ Does the thought of a “diet” or exercise program make you shudder?

~ Would you like to explore a way to feel and be in balance without forcing yourself to follow some rigid program?

~ Are you ready to trade in your angst and struggle for a compassionate way to work with your body, creating balance and “your best weight?”

I enjoy working with clients, creating a fresh, effective approach to lasting weight loss. Often, the desire to lose weight involves a sense of lack and struggle and “can’t have” and “I’m not good enough” and fighting and controlling the body. Our work together centers on balance, “enoughness”, long-term sustainability, wisdom, self-empowerment and working with, not against, your body.

In both individual coaching sessions and group classes, we focus on adding in nourishing foods, and identifying what will make the biggest differences over time. It delights me to demonstrate that healthy foods can be quite decadent, and that it is not necessary to experience any lack when upgrading your food and lifestyle.

While food is usually central to any weight or health issue, other lifestyle choices can be equally or more important. In my experience, an effective weight loss program addresses all of these areas. Additionally, it is common for big emotions to be intertwined with food choices. Wellness coaching sessions can help identify unmeet needs, and create a personal roadmap for addressing those needs.

My approach includes the following, in a coaching and conversational format:

~ Identifying what you are currently doing and experiencing, what’s working, what isn’t, and what you want

~ Sharing information about aspects of successful weight loss – food, exercise, lifestyle, emotions, attitudes, etc.

~ Recommending and exploring whole foods as the basis for long-term sustainable weight balance – focusing on quality of food, simplicity, individual needs and tastes, etc. (I do not ascribe to one particular path – vegan, vegetarian, raw, etc., but rather help you learn to know/feel what is best for you over time).

~ Lots of ideas for specific foods, food prep, and recipes, supporting each client in discovering what works for them and developing their own food plan.

~ Adding in clean, high-quality, nutrient-dense foods – focusing on that rather than immediately taking things away.

~ Practicing how to effectively address the emotional components of your relationship with food.

~ Collaborating with other members of your support team, when beneficial to do so.

~ Facilitating a lively, safe, transformational experience
